As long as you want your vinyl fence installed inside your property line and up to code, we can build and place your vinyl fence panels anywhere.

Prior Lake does not require you to notify your neighbors of your fencing plans, but it is a good idea. Once we set an installation date, we suggest you notify your neighbors.

Prior Lake requires a zoning permit before the installation of any fence measuring seven feet high or less. A site plan or survey needs to accompany the permit revealing the proposed new fence and your property line. Northland Fence will take care of your zoning application for you.

If you are looking to install a fence higher than seven feet, the city requires a separate building permit.

Northland Fence will call Gopher State One before your Prior Lake vinyl fence installation. A customer service representative will come out and mark the location of any power lines before we dig any fence posts.

Like many Minnesota cities, Prior Lake has a maximum of a four-foot fence in the front yard. Vinyl picket fencing works well in the front, where the city also requires fencing to be at least 50% open for the passage of light and air.

Side yard and backyard fencing, however, is allowed up to a seven-foot maximum height and there is no opacity requirement making vinyl privacy fencing a perfect choice. As mentioned previously, if you would like a taller fence, you will need to submit a building permit ahead of time.

The city discourages any type of fencing on a public easement, or right-of-way. That said, there are some exceptions. You will need to submit a request to the Prior Lake City Engineer for permission to do so.
